Privacy

Everything stays on your device.

Capture, color, teleprompter, and export run on your iPhone. There is no QCam account. If you enable optional cloud backup, QCam only writes your recorded videos to your Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive — it does not read your other cloud files.

On-device by design

Every core part of QCam runs on your iPhone: capture, the teleprompter, voice tracking, stabilization, Looks/color grading, Apple Log processing, and export. Your video and audio are stored on your device. QCam does not operate a content backend that receives your recordings. Footage leaves the device only when you export, share, or enable optional backup to a cloud account you control.

What data we process

QCam does not require an account and does not sell personal data. Depending on how you use the app, the following may apply:

  • Recordings & media (on device) — Video, audio, scripts, and imported media stay on your iPhone unless you export, share, or back them up.
  • Optional Google Drive / OneDrive backup (write-only) — If you connect a cloud account, QCam uploads (writes) selected recorded video files from your device into your own Drive or OneDrive. See the Google user data section below.
  • Diagnostics (optional / automatic crash reporting) — Firebase Analytics and Sentry may receive limited technical signals (usage events, device model, iOS version, stack traces). They do not receive your video recordings or teleprompter scripts.

Permissions we request

  • Camera & Microphone — required to record. Footage and audio are written only to your device.
  • Photo Library — only when you save or import media, and only the items you pick.
  • External microphones — audio from a connected mic is recorded locally, same as the built-in mic.

You can review or revoke any of these at any time in iOS Settings → QCam.

Google user data (optional Google Drive backup)

If you choose to connect Google Drive, QCam uses Google APIs only so you can back up recorded videos by writing files to your Drive. QCam does not use Google Drive as a general file browser, library, or search over your existing Drive content.

What Google user data is accessed

  • OAuth credentials — Access tokens (and refresh tokens if issued) needed to upload on your behalf after you sign in with Google on your iPhone.
  • App-created Drive files & folders only — Under the drive.file scope, QCam can create folders/files it writes for backup and manage those app-created items (for example to complete or retry an upload). QCam does not request full Drive access and cannot list or read your other Drive files.
  • Upload metadata needed to complete a backup — File names, sizes, and API status for the backups QCam writes — only as required to finish the write operation.

QCam does not collect your Google password. Sign-in happens through Google’s OAuth flow on your device.

How Google user data is used

Google user data is used solely to provide the user-facing feature “back up my QCam recordings to my Google Drive” (create/write backup files and keep that feature working reliably). We do not use Google user data for advertising, personalized ads, credit decisions, selling to data brokers, building marketing profiles, or training AI/ML models.

How Google user data is stored

  • On your iPhone — OAuth tokens are stored only in the secure iOS Keychain on your device. They are not sent to QCam servers.
  • In your Google Drive — Backup video files are written directly from your device to your Google account. QCam does not host a copy of those files on its own servers.

Sharing, transfer, and disclosure

We do not sell Google user data. We do not share, transfer, or disclose Google user data to third parties except: (1) to Google, as required to perform the Drive API uploads you authorized; and (2) if required by law. OAuth tokens and Drive backup contents are not transferred to other apps or to QCam-operated servers for processing.

Security

Uploads use Google’s secure HTTPS APIs. Tokens stay in the iOS Keychain. Because backups land in your Drive, they are also protected by your Google Account security settings.

Retention and deletion

  • OAuth tokens on device — Kept only while Drive backup remains connected. Disconnecting Google Drive in QCam (or uninstalling the app) removes the tokens from the device Keychain.
  • Backup files in Google Drive — Belong to you and remain in your Drive until you delete them in Google Drive or via any in-app delete control we provide for app-created backups. Disconnecting QCam stops future writes; it does not automatically erase files already written to your Drive.
  • Revoke access — You can revoke QCam’s access at any time in your Google Account permissions: myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Google API Services User Data Policy

QCam’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Microsoft OneDrive backup (optional)

The same write-only model applies if you connect OneDrive: QCam uses app-folder scope (Files.ReadWrite.AppFolder) to write video backups into the app’s folder in your OneDrive. Tokens stay on device; files go to your Microsoft account, not to QCam servers. You control retention and deletion in OneDrive / Microsoft account settings.

Analytics & diagnostics

To help maintain reliability and improve QCam, we use limited diagnostic services. These are separate from Google Drive backup and do not receive your video files or Google Drive contents:

  • Firebase (Google) — App usage patterns and feature adoption signals. Not used to access Drive files.
  • Sentry — Crash reports with technical details (e.g. iOS version, device model, stack traces). No personal video content.

No advertising tracking

QCam does not include third-party advertising SDKs, cross-app tracking for ads, or data-broker integrations. We do not sell your data.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page. Material changes will be noted on the blog.
